Nesian Mystik is the explosive success story in New Zealand music, achieving 3 top ten albums and 13 top ten singles.
Their backgrounds unite a remarkable diversity of Polynesia in bringing together Maori, Tongan, Samoan and Cook Island ancestry becoming one of the biggest names in New Zealand music.
The November 2002 release of their debut album “Polysaturated” burst into the album chart at #1 and by the end of June was still in the top 10 and certified 4 x Platinum. Critics united with fans in hailing the album as a landmark debut release by a New Zealand group.
May 2006 saw the return of Nesian Mystik with their sophomore album “Freshmen”. They describe “Freshmen” as a feel good album, drawing influences from Old Skool, Soul, Funk, R’N’B and Hip Hop.
May 2008 once again saw the return of Nesian Mystik with the single “Nesian 101” which became their biggest song to date, reaching pole position (#1). They released their third album “Elevator Musiq” on October 2008.
Their lyrical themes are conscious and proud. They sing about what’s close to them, drawing on their cultures and families for inspiration, as well as the timeless topic of going out and having fun as well as their humorous take on hip-hop culture.
